Trip Overview
The Nar Phu Valley with Annapurna Circuit Trek is an adventurous journey that combines the remote and culturally rich Nar Phu Valley with the classic Annapurna Circuit. The trek takes you away from the busier sections of the Annapurna region and into the quiet valleys of Nar and Phu, where ancient villages, Buddhist monasteries, stone houses, and traditional Himalayan lifestyles are still well preserved.
The journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu towards the Marsyangdi Valley and continues on foot from the Koto area. The trail passes through forests, narrow gorges, waterfalls, alpine landscapes, and traditional mountain villages before entering the restricted Nar Phu Valley.
After exploring Phu and Nar villages, the route crosses the challenging Kang La Pass at around 5,320 meters and joins the Annapurna Circuit at Ngawal. From there, the trek continues through Manang and the upper Marsyangdi Valley before crossing the famous Thorong La Pass at approximately 5,416 meters. The journey then descends to the sacred town of Muktinath and continues towards Jomsom before flying to Pokhara and returning to Kathmandu.
This trek is ideal for experienced trekkers who want to explore both the hidden side of the Annapurna region and the classic Annapurna Circuit in one journey. Because of the high passes, long walking days, and high-altitude sections, good physical preparation and proper acclimatization are important.
