The trail passes through places such as Chirwa, Sekathum, Amjilosa, Gyabla, Ghunsa, Khangpachen, Lhonak, Pangpema, Cheram, Ramche, Tortong, and Yamphudin. The scenery changes a lot during the trek. You start with green hills and forests in the lower section and slowly move into the colder and more open mountain landscape. The trek begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur and a long drive toward Taplejung. After reaching the trekking area, you start walking from the lower valleys toward Ghunsa. From Ghunsa, the trail goes higher to Khangpachen and Lhonak before reaching Pangpema, the main viewpoint on the northern side of Kanchenjunga. After returning to Ghunsa, you cross the high Sele La section and continue toward Cheram and Ramche on the southern side.Along the way, you can see traditional mountain houses, prayer flags, mani walls, rivers, suspension bridges, and old trekking paths. The northern part of the region has a strong Tibetan Buddhist influence, especially around Ghunsa. The lower villages are home to different local communities, so the trek also gives you a chance to see the cultural diversity of eastern Nepal.Spring and autumn are usually the main trekking seasons because the weather is more suitable and mountain views are often clearer. The trek is physically demanding because of the long walking days, high altitude, steep sections, and rough trails. Good preparation is important, especially for the higher parts of the route. With Universe Himalayan Treks, you can explore both sides of the Kanchenjunga region on one long trekking route.
